A Few Projects I'm working on (GOOD NEWS For the LGBTQIA+ Newsletter, an alter to Aphrodite using upcycled materials, a small zine of Poetry, and 100% competition of a video game)
Yeah, keeping myself busy as I've been getting sick a lot. Nothing serious just colds and a 24-hour flu. I'm sure the stress of work is part of it plus people have been spreading their sick in my office (which is not ideal). So yeah, keeping myself busy and that has awakened my creative side more as of late.
Good LGBTQIA+ News: So, I was doing this for my office making newsletters of highly important but positive news stories. A few examples could be massive fundraisers by drag queens that raised much needed funds for good causes or a small queer bar in Ashville that was destroyed in the hurricane was fully funded by generous doners to help them not only rebuild but keep employees paid until completed. The news now ONLY focuses on the worst of the worst because the mainstream sphere of social media and information thrives on it (because more clicks). My newsletter did pretty well at the office for our goals of inclusivity so I'm deciding to make my own with more freedom to talk about issues in a way to not bring doom but curiosity and a little more whimsey. Queer stores and artists to highlight, movements, clubs, parties, memes, and the overall joy it is to be alive and out in this world. Still deciding on the name.
An Alter to Aphrodite: I've been hella into upcycling and using stuff I already have, asking in buy nothing groups if anyone has spare junk for a specific project, or if nothing else using my Michaels points and coupons like a mad person to get things on clearance. Still learning the ins and outs of upcycle properly but it's a fun journey to explore. My friend and I are into Metaphysics, deities, and alter building for specific ones (someday when I pay for BEAR, I plan to share pictures it's literally a hodgepodge I made using stuff I already had and candles I made using spare jars). So, Aphrodite helped my friend a lot in the romance market, so I figured let's give it shot and put her right next to Hecate which has helped me tremendously in overall protection (maintaining basics of living in such a crazy market, able to be okay mentally, and easing my sickness). I got the idea from a youtuber who made an alter using cardboard, paint, and trinkets that algin with that being.
A small zine of poetry: yes, I'm very slowly starting to work on my poetry. I realize my method is very much painting a vivid picture in a dreamlike haze as if you were seeing what happens in the realm of sleep. Maybe that will be the overall theme.
100% Video game completion: I'm getting into a habit to not buy new games unless it was on my list of preapproved, I'm going to play this list. If its something I don't know much about but looks interesting, it goes on my Wishlist for a sale. Reason being is again saving money and being more responsible with my habits. Play the game and THEN move on.
