Change in a stagnant economy and society

We all change as we age. Its a fact and there is nothing you can do about it. Eventually your tastes will shift slightly, your favorite food may get swapped with something slightly different, your favorite movie genre may swap from science fiction to drama after that one amazing movie you cannot stop thinking about.

We just change and that's okay. So how do we change when the room to change is so freaking limited?

I'm so ready to change careers and move into something new. Explore writing more, poetry, read more, and move on as we all tend to do. On paper this should really be a simple task. You figure out what sounds interesting. Then you find that job that's most likely entry level or a level above based on other experience. That's it. But everything about American society is block after block. The economy is in the toilet. There is no growth at all just layoffs and squeezing the workplace to just BARELY keep it together. Prices are through the roof, and everyone is broke or just a handful of people with more money then brain cells but I am certainly not in their circle.

The ability to change as a result is limited. Not to mention the shame people put upon you for daring to find a job that maybe isn't as stable. Meanwhile as many have pointed out, stable jobs do not exist in 2026. The last few days with politicians gladly telling communities that AI will be made a priority for power and resource extraction is the main focus, we more or less have to accept that stability does not exist. We are on our own.

I have to make some major changes. One of which is my consumerism habits which already have been changing. I know I'm not the only one. Letting go of what's no longer important to me to find a new path that has to be carved by force. If this country will refuse to be there for us and will just be a glorified corporation with even more steps well then don't expect anything from me. You want kids from me, tough. You want me to pay a mortgage and slave away for decades for an overpriced garbage house made as cheaply as possible by mega corps that do not care? Hell no.

I'm not gonna play this country's petty whiny, crying game where they dangle stability and MAYBE a better economy and opportunities like a carrot if we just work 24/7, live on crumbs, and stay sad forever.

Screw that.
